At his declaration, Onu enjoins his party and the electorate to elect him for the number one seat and see him as the "Chief servant". He described himself as one that has the knowledge, experience, credibility and education to occupy the seat of the President.
He is currently the fourth member of the cabinet to make his declaration for the office. Others are Mr Rotimi Amaechi, Minister for Transport; Dr Chris Ngige, Minister for Labour and Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Minister of State for Education.
The APC currently has 17 aspirants who have declared for the office of the President.
